How you write, not who you are

A tiny werbos tool that measures the fingerprint of any prose — caps, emoji, rhythm, vocabulary, the words you reach for — and then, on purpose, refuses to tell you what it means about you.

Paste any writing into the Prose Fingerprint and it hands you back the shape of it: what fraction of your letters are capitals, how much emoji you lean on, the average length of your sentences and how wildly that length swings, your vocabulary richness, the words you open sentences with, and the words you reach for more than anyone else. It runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

The interesting part is what it won’t do

Every “AI writing analyzer” on the internet takes that same fingerprint and then editorializes: “your short sentences suggest anxiety,” “your emoji use indicates a need for approval.” That’s not analysis. That’s a horoscope with a word count attached — a confident guess about your inner life, dressed up as insight.

Prose Fingerprint stops at the measurement. It’ll tell you your sentences average fourteen words and swing hard; it will not tell you you’re impulsive. Because the second thing isn’t in the data — it’s a story, and inventing stories about you from thin evidence is the exact move werbos exists to refuse. A mirror of your style, not a diagnosis of your soul.

That’s the same discipline as the rest of werbos, just pointed at prose: ground what you can measure, abstain on what you can’t. The honesty is the product.

It’s also a door

The fingerprint isn’t just a readout — it’s the front half of werbos’s persona engine. The exact numbers you’re looking at (the openers, the signature words, the punctuation shape) are what werbos distills into a capsule: a chattable voice that writes like whoever wrote the text. It’s how we built an Emily Dickinson you can talk to from her public-domain verse, and a house voice for werbos itself.

So the tool is a two-step invitation. Today: here’s the shape of how you write. One step further: want to talk to it?

Try it

Paste an email, a chapter, your last fifty texts, or a stranger’s blog: werbos.netlify.app/prose. Measurement in, honesty out, nothing uploaded. The most werbos thing a small tool can be.
